Rose and I were preparing for a show and I had painted Kate with the weight of the world on her shoulders. I asked Rose what else she thought Kate needed. She drew her a house, flowers, and heart. This is a collaboration of sorts. It is hard being a caregiver. It’s also hard being a woman of color.

“She wore her heart on her sleeve. And she felt the weight of the world on her shoulders. But she kept going.” I always feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders. But there is still potential for growth despite the turbulence.
